Green Hell is calling!

Showtime at the Nürburgring: BILSTEIN teams want to attack at the 2021 24-hour race

No race is more difficult, none is more hotly contested and none is more strongly contested than the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. When the starting flag drops for the 2021 edition on Saturday, June 5, at 3:30 p.m., well over 100 vehicles from more than 20 classes will enter the race twice around the clock. Then the nearly 80 teams will once again face the maximum challenge that international motorsport has to offer. Motivated to the hilt: The BILSTEIN teams, equipped with perfect racing material, who have their sights set on numerous class victories. And even the overall victory is in the cards!

35 teams will be competing in the GT3 and special homologation classes (SP9 and SP-X) alone. Top-class motorsport on the world’s toughest race track is therefore pre-programmed.

In the top class SP9, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT is aiming for overall victory with two Mercedes-AMG GT3s. Adam Christodoulou, Maro Engel, Manuel Metzger and Luca Stolz will start in the blue and yellow BILSTEIN car with the #4, while team owner Hubert Haupt, Patrick Assenheimer, Nico Bastian and double starter Maro Engel will compete in the HRT Mercedes with the #6.

HRT’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 can already show its strengths to the full, especially in corners: The BILSTEIN EVO RT 5-way racing suspension is an absolute high-end product that not only impresses with maximum performance. With its up to 10,000 adjustment options, the suspension also enables the team to always have access to the perfect suspension setup. With its robust lightweight aluminum design, the racing suspension also offers maximum durability – just the thing for the 24-hour marathon in the Eifel.

In addition to the perfect material, the team can also count on the qualifying skills of Nordschleife specialist Maro Engel. The 35-year-old is one of the best GT drivers in the world and one of the fastest drivers ever on the Nürburgring Nordschleife: in the last five years, the BILSTEIN brand ambassador has taken pole position in qualifying three times with the best time. This year, Maro Engel is again aiming to lay the foundations for a successful race in qualifying. Top qualifying on Friday evening at 6.30 p.m. will be the first of many highlights of the cult race in the Green Hell.

In the classes below SP9, numerous teams will be competing that also rely on BILSTEIN and will be supported by the technicians and engineers from our BILSTEIN race service at the track. Among others, Black Falcon and Sorg Rennsport have their sights set on top placings.

Black Falcon’s Mercedes-AMG GT4 and Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR in particular have recently shown themselves to be extremely well prepared: At the 24h qualifying race in mid-May, the Black Falcon Porsche finished 26th overall as the best non-GT3-based car in the SP-PRO class, while at NLS 3 in mid-April, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 took class victory in the SP 4T + SP 8T class.

Max Kruse Racing also travels to the Eifel with a lot of tailwind. On board: our extremely successful BILSTEIN MDS 2-way racing suspension. The team of professional footballer Max Kruse and Benny Leuchter achieved two double victories in two races of the season in the NLS. The #10 VW Golf GTI TCR driven by Benny Leuchter, Andy Gülden, Christian Gebhardt and Nick Hancke is the favorite to win the SP 3T class, which has a particularly strong field. The second VW Golf GTI TCR (#333) is driven by Jasmin Preisig, Matthias Wasel, Frédéric Yerly and Gustavo Xavier – all of them proven fast drivers.

With the field of starters as high-caliber as ever, one thing is clear: racing fans can look forward to 24 hours of racing action and drama ranging from bitter disappointments to breathtaking triumphs. A total of 10,000 of them can be there when the grandstands along the Grand Prix track and the VIP lounges along the start and finish straight open Corona-style.

Motorsport and BILSTEIN fans can also follow the race from the comfort of their own homes: Either live on the internet or on the RTL Nitro TV channel. In addition, the BILSTEIN Social Media Team will be providing racing fans with exciting and exclusive behind-the-scenes looks on Facebook and Instagram.
