On Instagram his nickname is: “BMW_Fanatic687”. And because Gökhan has exclusively been driving cars with the blue-white propeller logo since he was 19 years old, the nickname is a matter of course.
After a BMW 3 Series E36, a 5 Series F10 and a 335i E92, it was time for a BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé at the end of 2016. “The 335i was my leasing car for three years. However, with the car I always had the feeling that I was working just for the fuel,” the machining mechanic smiles. So it had to be a diesel. Gökhan found it with his BMW 430xd.
A bit more power was welcome, though – which is why the elegant four-door model did not remain untouched for long. An optimisation of the engine map and a new intercooler ensured an adequate peak power of around 320 hp. Almost even more important: Since then Gökhan has been surfing on a torque shaft of almost 700 Nm.
More things changed, not only under the engine cover, but also in looks. The 31-year-old installed several parts from the BMW performance shelf, including a discreet rear wings, new interior trims and an Alcantara steering wheel. In particular, the full film coating in the special colour “Atomic Teal” provides for an individual appearance.
The unique look is reinforced by a deep lowering, which is enabled by a BILSTEIN B16 coilover suspension. For Gökhan, however, it was not just the appearance that was decisive: “Of course, the suspension was supposed to provide a sporty appearance. But performance, adjustment options and high degree of comfort were also important to me, because the BMW is also my everyday car,” explains the BMW fan.
Of course it’s no coincidence that Gökhan chose BILSTEIN. “In my first BMW, a used E36, the production suspension was way too spongy. I decided to go with BILSTEIN at the time, was very satisfied immediately and have always remained loyal to BILSTEIN,” says Gökhan.
Our BILSTEIN B16 suspension, which is also suitable for occasional visits to the racetrack, now works in the 4 series. Just the right thing for Gökhan: “When the new suspension was built in, we immediately drove to the Nürburgring for a couple of laps on the Nordschleife. The BMW drove like it was on rails,” reports the passionate kart driver enthusiastically. “The steering responded tightly and at no time did I feel insecure with the car”. A merit of the BILSTEIN suspension, as Gökhan finds: “I simply didn’t enjoy the standard suspension at high speeds”. Gökhan is therefore not only a “BMW fanatic”, but also a performance fanatic.
