The future of the shock absorber has begun already

BILSTEIN presents high-tech OE-replacement and training sessions at Automechanika 2018

Automechanika 2018 was again an exhibition for the most important suppliers to the automotive industry from around the world. BILSTEIN of course could not be absent: The subject of air suspension was a central focus and many prospective customers made use of the occasion to get information at the BILSTEIN stand.

BILSTEIN employees engaged an interested audience from the workshop sector in diverse exchanges of questions and answers. Christian Spyra, a BILSTEIN employee, was also pleased to take part in many lively discussions on the subject of installation aids: “Immediately before Automechanika, and together with the puls market research institute, we carried out a telephone survey involving 200 workshops regarding the subject of air suspension installation. The results showed that with our detailed installation instructions and videos on our YouTube channel, we are on the right track. In discussion with the visitors to the fair, this was confirmed to us again.”

Here, Christian Spyra sees the trade press as an important factor in terms of knowledge transfer. BILSTEIN had already organised a special kick-off event for them, which occurred a day before the actual trade fair. Travelling by coach from Frankfurt directly to the BILSTEIN plant in Mandern, journalists were provided with detailed insights into the production process and could speak with experts from all relevant areas of the company. In the late afternoon they went directly to the Hockenheimring, where the Red Bull Driftbrothers were waiting for them. From the passenger seat they could then experience the precision which modern racing suspension can deliver. Motorsport provides an important testing ground for BILSTEIN and a flagship display of BILSTEIN products for the performance and tuning sector. Vehicle workshops can select a great number of sports and coil-over suspension systems from the product range, and therefore generate individual quotations for equipping their customers’ vehicles. In this way BILSTEIN perfectly enables the transition from standard equipment to increased driving pleasure. The entire range of this portfolio was effectively illustrated to the trade fair visitors with numerous exhibits.

As expected, the OE-replacement section got the greatest attention. Here, BILSTEIN has been a “full-line supplier” for some years already. For workshops this means that both attachment and service parts (BILSTEIN B1), as well as spring suspension (BILSTEIN B3), and OE-replacement shock absorbers in OE quality (BILSTEIN B4) or improved form (BILSTEIN B6), all originate from a single source. Complete air suspension modules (BILSTEIN B4) and OE-replacements for active suspension (products with additional DampTronic® systems) are of course included in this.
