Vuhl 05RR turns up the heat!

The hottest Mexican export utilises BILSTEIN tech

Vuhl may not be a name you are immediately familiar with. Standing alongside more established names like Ariel and Caterham this Mexican supercar sticks out its elbows and stands tall. The numbers speak for themselves.

Building upon Vuhl’s 05 the 05RR really turns up the heat. With full carbon fibre bodywork and wheels it tips the scales at a lithe 640kg. Coupled with a Ford Mustang 2.3 EcoBoost engine  the 05RR catapults to 62 miles per hour from a standing start in just 2.7 seconds. That’s knocking on the door of real hypercar times. This is possible because of the low curb weight, 385bhp powerplant and a Sadev 6 speed sequential gearbox.

All of this in a car with no roof and no windscreen. The open cockpit allows the driver to experience the thrill of single-seater style driving with a reasonable level of comfort. Vuhl’s 05RR is designed to excite, simply the thought of 600bhp per ton should be enough to set pulses racing.

With such speed and acceleration Vuhl wanted the handling dynamics to match. That’s why the latest 05RR comes with Bilstein 2-way adjustable coilovers. This allows you to perfect the chassis setup to your requirements and really dance on the edge of grip. Driving excitement is something Vuhl are really passionate about and the new Bilstein suspension when coupled with a 15% faster steering rack really makes for a wide smile.

What’s more, Vuhl are taking the 05RR racing. With statistics like this from the road car the race version will be blisteringly fast. Vuhl has opted again for Bilstein suspension for the racing project but this time utilises MDS race shock absorbers, the same as used in VLN and Nurburgring 24h race cars.
