BILSTEIN Sweeps the Podium in LOORRS Championship

BILSTEIN short course racers did it again in rounds nine and ten of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Race Series (LOORRS) with two additional podium sweeps – bringing them to a total of five BILSTEIN sweeps in the 2020 Pro 2 season. Once the dust had settled and the points were tallied, the BILSTEIN team took to the podium once more as the top-three season-points leaders; Pro 2 Champion – Jerett Brooks, second place – Doug Mittag, and third place – Ryan Beat!

Jerett Brooks is no stranger to the championship wreath, as this 2020 Pro 2 Championship follows his success as class champion in 2019. Brooks commented, “Back to back Pro 2 Champs! Wow, what an insane year with seven wins. Coming into the 2020 season, we brought everything in-house, which was always a dream to build trucks with the help from [Tanner and Nick]. We went above any beyond on this Pro 2 build!”

Brooks went on to explain, “The amount of people that said the truck would never work was crazy! It was for sure the fastest truck all year. I really want to thank everyone that makes this team go round, it’s an insane amount of work, but it all pays off!”

Congratulations to Jerett Brooks and the team! We know how competitive this class is, and you have done it again – back to back!

Doug Mittag, who typically races in the Pro 4 class, had quite the surprise this year as LOORRS decided to dissolve the Pro 4 class, only weeks before the start of the 2020 season. Fortunately, Doug was able to get a truck put together at the last minute, and it has been a competitive one at that.

Taking home the silver for the season, Mittag shared his thoughts, “First place and fast lap yesterday [Round nine] but lost the championship by two points… definitely a bittersweet day [but] either way I’m really proud of my team and what we were able to accomplish after switching classes on such short notice, and building a truck in 20 days. A lot of individuals business, and sponsors helped us along the way to make it happen!”

Well done to the whole Mittag family and team – you all continue to defy the odds!

Finally, the season podium rounded out with our title sponsor Ryan Beat. After years of success and championships in ProLite, Ryan has moved into Pro 2 and had this to say about taking home the bronze for 2020, “What a crazy ride this year has been” Ryan said. “It was my first season in the premier Pro 2 category, as well as my first season as a multi-car team owner [Ryan Beat Motorsports]. This year had its struggles but the victories outweighed the defeats. We were the only team to give its partners a national schedule which meant double the work and effort all while still being a top contender wherever we went. I am so proud of all our hard working team members. This kind of greatness doesn’t happen without great, driven and likeminded individuals… Thank you!”

As any season in racing, 2020 brought its fair share of ups and downs for these teams and their opponents, not to mention the added difficulty and hardships of the pandemic. However, this season really shows that the old adage, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going” could not be truer today. All of us at BILSTEIN could not be more proud of this talented group – and we can’t wait to go racing again in 2021!
