Why our aftermarket air suspension modules differ from the original equipment

In 1997, jointly with Mercedes-Benz, we brought the air suspension module to production series maturity. Since then, we have been further developing the technology with all well known car manufacturers – every day. In spite of close co-operation with the car manufacturers, it does occur that the OE parts and our aftermarket parts differ visually. This happens for good reason.

Our BILSTEIN B4 air suspension module in the series replacement segment is the only pneumatic suspension in uncompromising original equipment quality. A fact that demands the highest expectations – also on the looks of our products. Yes, some of our BILSTEIN B4 air suspension modules really do look different from the original equipment systems. But what can surprise, or even irritate, at first, with a second look becomes obvious as the only logical consequence.

In most cases it is a question only of differences in the looks of the air suspension modules. Sometimes the thrust bearings differ, sometimes the cable fastening or the flexible bellows. And occasionally the visual differences are even quite large: The original equipment air suspension modules of some construction series, are provided with an external reservoir. In case of the further-developed aftermarket air suspension modules from BILSTEIN, they are integrated into the module: Here the reservoir is “hidden” in the roll-out piston under the flexible bellows.

These visual differences and changes are the result of a continuous improvement and further development – and thus a direct advantage for our workshop partners and their customers. The modular structure of our aftermarket air suspension modules has an individual BILSTEIN product design and that is our claim: Uncompromising original equipment quality or better!

In spite of occasional external differences: In case of all our air suspension modules, we guarantee 100 percent functionality and fit accuracy. Trust in our BILSTEIN B4 air suspension module – even when it looks different!

After all: Our air suspension modules are always supplied together with all required information. Precise information relating to the product and detailed installation instructions are included here. For BILSTEIN air suspension modules which differentiate optically from the OE air suspension modules, corresponding future information will be enclosed. Furthermore, workshop professionals can find helpful videos with installation tips on our YouTube-Channel.
